The Silk Road connected the people of our ancient world. It encompassed a series of trade routes upon which merchants traveled to sell and exchange their goods. These merchants were immersed in new cultures and languages, experienced new ways of living, and met people they never forgot. Although trade was the driving force behind their expeditions, the travelers became forever changed through their journey on the Silk Road. I’m Scott, I’m 24 years old and I’m attempting to embark on my own Silk Road journey. I will post an item for trade and if you want to offer something in exchange, send me an email with a description and a picture.

7th Trade Item: Aragorn son of Arathorn, called Elessar, the Elfstone, DĂșnadan, the heir of Isildur Elendil's son of Gondor

I traded the rubberband ball with Henry. Henry said that he has always wanted to make a rubberband ball, but has never gotten around to it. Now I have Aragorn! This toy is waterproof, so you can play with it in the bath tub. Email me if you want to trade. In the picture below, Aragorn is taking a nap.

6th Trade Item: Rubber Band Ball

I am back! I haven’t made a trade in a long time; I have been focused completely on school. I am free now, at least for the next six months, while I do an internship in Jacksonville, Florida. My wife and I drove to Jacksonville from Salt Lake City, and it took three tiring days. I loved it though because I have never seen any states east of Utah.

In Iowa, the Missouri river flooded and we had to drive through water on a section of the freeway. We then had to take a detour that took us to a small town in Iowa. We decided to stop at the local grocery store to get some treats. My wife and I felt like we were celebrities because when we walked in everyone, I mean EVERYONE, stared at us. I almost felt insecure, like something was wrong with me. Maybe they just saw how gorgeous my wife is and they were wondering how I, being so ugly, got her. I guess our style was just kinda foreign to them.

While I was waiting for my wife to go to the potty a lady asked me if I was from “around here.” When I told her I’m from Utah she said, “Wow, Utah! What are you doing out here?!” (I didn’t know Utah was so cool). We talked for a little while longer and she was a very nice lady. Other than that, Nebraska is too long of a state, St Louis has a cool arch, Kentucky has crazy thunderstorms, and Georgia has the most drastic southern drawl I’ve ever heard.

I didn’t have much time to make a trade and post before I left. I wanted to trade along the way here, but I guess I will have to trade on the way home. Literally ten minutes before I hopped in the car, I woke my little sister up and asked her what she wanted to trade me. She had the perfect item: a rubber band ball. I could not believe she would make that trade. It was her lose and my gain. She got a TV and I got a large rubber band ball. She said she inherited the rubber band ball from my older sister.

I know millions of people right now are in need of a rubber band ball. I will probably receive emails from all around the world because it will be a hot item. I hope Gmail can handle the email volume. I have not counted the rubber bands on the ball and I do not know the diameter, but I do know it bounces high.

The rubber band ball is now up for trade! Life has brought me to Jacksonville, Florida. Now let’s see where my silk road takes me.

The pencil does not come with the rubber band ball; it just gives you perspective. The ball is quite large.

Christmas Time is Cool and Fun

Hello everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful holiday season. I pretty much was in a coma for a week. I got very ill and was in bed all week, including Christmas Eve and Christmas day. Do you know the most depressing part about coming out of a coma? It's checking your email and having no offers for my wonderful television. My Silk Road stands at a halt as of now! The more offers I recieve the awesomer my Silk Road will be. I know you have an old little something in your garage or under your bed. I'll trade for almost anything I feel is fair, besides string cheese and mailboxes.

P.S. When I was sick my wife convinced me to let her put a green mask on my face. I hope my friends don't find out.

5th Trade Item: Phillips TV

Yes I am still here and alive. Yes I did make a trade today. Yes his name was Dan if you were wondering. Dan is a college student that lives with his parents and is enjoying the ride of life. When I got to Dan's house, in Salt Lake City, Utah, it seemed as if nobody was home. Dan happened to be taking a Sunday nap. Even though he was woken up, he still was just as happy as a doorbell. Dan got the speakers and I got a Phillips TV. Dan saw the TV, knew it needed a home, and he wanted to be a part of my Silk Road. This TV is not a flat screen, but it does have a screen on it. My friend that is pretty cool and stuff has a Phillips TV too so if you trade me and have one too you can be cool and stuff too! Sometimes if the lighting is right you can see your reflection in the TV screen, so it could be used as a mirror. The TV is up for trade now, so send me your emails if you would like to trade me for it. Yes it comes with a remote. Yes most doorbells are happy, besides the grumpy ones. And yes Christmas is coming up!

4th Trade Item: Pioneer Speakers

Mike (the one holding the speakers above) was the eager recipient of the Sleep Number pillow. I, in return, received a set of Pioneer speakers. Don't the speakers just look so lovely?! Between finals, work, and all of lifes other demands, I have had very little time-you know how it goes. So, the trade with Mike was great because he lives in the town of Lehi, Utah. Lehi is conveniently located between Draper, where I live, and Provo, where I work and go to school. Mike is a big fan of Sleep Number pillows. In fact, he has had three in the past! Mike lent his last Sleep Number pillow to a friend, who happened to be homeless. Mike's pillow was never returned. But luckily for Mike, he found me on my Silk Road. The moral of the story is, be charitable to the homeless, but don't lend them your pillows.

I want you to think right now what you want to trade me. I know you have something.

Have you thought about it yet? Now email me. It doesn't matter where you live or what you have to trade. The more items I am able to trade, the more diverse my road will be.

3rd Trade: Sleep Number Therapeutic Pillow

Today I journeyed in the freezing cold Utah weather over to Leanne's house in Sandy, Utah. Leeann is a kind lady. She is a mother of six kids. Even though Leeann looks like she is twenty years old, I felt as if she was my loving mother. She offered me a turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce. Her house just felt so christmasy.

We were both very satisfied with our trades. Leeann got the Star Wars game with all of its multiple functions. I got a Sleep Number therapeutic pillow. She said she bought this pillow with love for her husband, but before he could use it, he decided he didn't want it. To Leanne's dismay, it was too late to return the pillow. Although she thought it was bad luck, we can now clearly see it was destiny. Leeann now has become a part of my Silk Road journey. Thanks Leeann! This pillow is fit for a king or a queen, but it could end up under your head. The pillow can't be used as a door bell, a snow shovel, or a float tube. It is also not water proof, but you could take it to the beach. If you are interested in owning this brand new pillow, your emails/comments offering a trade are welcome.

PS Good dreams are promised with this pillow.  I saw it on the news.
